Letter of Offer Vs.Letter of Intent

The Letter of Offer and Letter of Intent has same meaning as it has been issued by company to the Prospective candidate. The offer or letter of intent has been issued to candidate after completing the rigourous selection procedure in campus. Once the Letter of Intent has been issued and accepted by candidate it is the obligation from the company to abide. Yes the Company may extend the date due to Economy slow down which is always a temporary phenomenon in todays political scenareo in Developed and developing country where Government is aware of the economic situation and how to comeout of the same.

A-1 - I do agree that Company's Brand Image will be affected by cancelling the Letter of Intent due to slowdown. Since to built a strong Brand it takes years time but frequent happening of above will definitely hamper the Brand image. Word of mouth , Press release will go against the company's image. It may loose the competitive advantages. Good Talent may not choose the Company as Best Employer to Work with.

A-2 - I donot agree with Infy's spokeperson comment on Letter of Intent and Letter of offer. Legally both the terms are same. If the letter of Intent is accepted by the candidate than it is same as letter of offer.

A-3 -if I would have been the placement cordinator of IIT Mumbai , I would have strongly communicate to the company about the Placement policy of Institute. Yes it is true that due to slowdown the requirement of the company is not so urgent as it is required during the boom period but the date of joining can be extended and I would like to convince the company about the same. Next year I will be very cautious and careful to invite company whose policy of selection is not matching to the placement policy of IIT Mumbai.

A-4 - None of my freind has faced such type of situation
